Today's (Thursday's) word - ONE

One:
1.       Single in number;  individual;  as one man;  one book;  There is one sun only in our system of planets.
2.       Indefinitely, some or any.  You will one day repent of your folly.  But in this phrase, one day is equivalent to some future time.
3.       It follows any.
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom.  Matt. viii.
4.       Different;  diverse;  opposed to another.   It is one thing to promise, and another to fulfill.
5.       It is used with another, to denote mutuality or reciprocation.  Be kind and assist one another.
6.       It is used with another, to denote average or mean proportion.  The coins one with another, weigh seven penny weight each.
7.       One of two;  opposed to other.   Ask from one side of heaven to the other.  Deut. Iv
8.       Single by union; undivided;  the same.
Single in kind;  the same

This is a great word to start with.  It reminds me that I am as unique as my name.  At least I don't think there are any other Tari Anne Moore Huffakers out there in the world.
And I really don't think there is anyone else out there who has experienced the same things in life as I have...including the emotions that go with them.
I also think about how much power ONE has...one person, one word, one gesture, one song, one breath, one child, one step.
Be the ONE who makes a difference for someone today.  One smile, one wave, one handshake, one hug, one kind word, one assist...it can change the day for 2 people.  Seriously.

Wednesday's word - Endure

Endure:
v.i. [French endurer;  en and durer, to last, from dur, Latin durus, duro; Spanish endurar.
The primary sense of durus, hard, is set, fixed.  See Durable.
1.       To last;  to continue in the same state without perishing; to remain;  to abide.
2.       To bear;  to brook;  to suffer without resistance, or without yielding.
1.       v.t   To bear;  to sustain;  to support without breaking or yielding to force or pressure.  Metals endure a certain degree of heat without melting.
2.       To bear with patience;  to bear without opposition or sinking under the pressure.
3.       To undergo;  to sustain
To continue in.

I like this word.  Endure.  To suffer without resistance, or without yielding.
I chose to endure to the end, with my testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ growing in my heart daily, never yielding to the world's view of right and wrong but always to the Lord's guidelines.
I am coming to understand what "Divine Nature" means, thanks in part to this challenge.  And I like spending the time each day in a closer more focused communication with my God.
I hope to not only endure but to endure WELL.
" To bear with patience;  to bear without opposition or sinking under the pressure."  I went through an ordeal...a lengthy ordeal...that I really tried to bear with patience.  Sadly, I murmured and whined and cried a LOT through it, however, I did hold fast to my convictions and adhered to the council I received through much prayer and fasting, and I think I am a better person for that.  Imagine how wonderful I would be if I had adhered without whining, murmuring, and crying.
If a lesson really is repeated until learned I sure hope I get it faster the next time.  Whining, crying, and murmuring take a lot of energy that I would rather use somewhere else.

Today's word is Enthrall

I don't think I can do this word.  Here's why...

Enthrall:
To enslave.  See “Inthrall”
To enslave:  to reduce to bondage or servitude;  to shackle.

I can Eliminate the "natural man"  but I struggle with the idea of enslavement.  The very purpose of our existence is based on Agency.  Enslavement eliminates that and I am just not into that...

I am enjoying the freedom this challenge is affording...I am not interested at all in enslavement.  I am no Thrall.  I am bursting those bands that have held me back and moving...

Today's (Monday) word...Edify

Edify:
1.       To build, in a literal sense.
2.       To instruct and improve the mind in knowledge generally, and particularly in moral and religious knowledge, in faith and holiness.
To teach or persuade.

This word is a challenge for me.  I work to become edified.  I get asked to attempt to edify others.  The former is a LOT easier for me than the latter.  However, it is becoming easier.  The thing that makes it easier is the practice (and I am doing a lot of practicing in order to get to perfect...which seems a great distance away at this point) of taking care with my vocabulary.
Words!!  They make all the difference sometimes.
It is really important to evaluate what we put into our minds and again what goes out of our mouths.  It is my goal to involve myself with things that are virtuous, lovely and of good report.  I feel that those things will be edifying...not just to myself but to others.
Edify.  I think this 90 day challenge helps with that.

Saturday's word...Exhibit Sunday's word...Enlarge

Exhibit:
v.t.
1.       To offer or present to view;  to present for inspection;  to show;  as, to exhibit paintings or other specimens of art;  to exhibit papers or documents in court.
2.       To show;  to display;  to manifest publicly;  s, to exhibit a noble example of bravery or generosity.
To present;  to offer publicly or officially;  as, to exhibit a charge of high treason.

     Okay...
When I look at this word I think of the zoo, museums, aquariums...places where things are on display.  Places where the public goes to watch creatures of all sorts behave as naturally as the environment will allow.
"Where the public goes to watch..."  That is what I think of when I see this word in connection with the goal of this challenge.
My behavior is ALWAYS on display...so now I get to think about what behavior I exhibit on a moment by moment  basis...let alone a day to day basis.
I think I should be hiding in shame.  Oh, I have my moments where I can consider myself a bit more than a tarnished example of good behavior.  I like to think that I am kind, caring, relatively articulate when the situation calls for it...but I can say that in general I would NOT like to be caught on surveillance video where I would have to watch MYSELF.
SO, I am to a point where I want to be much more careful with my actions, tone of voice, body language, the whole 9 yards.
I don't think "acting" is the right word for the awareness.  I think it more like choosing more carefully before I act or speak.
You see, my goal is to be an effective advocate for Christ.  I want to do things His way.  My way is mostly flawed.  I would exhibit much better behavior.
So, thanks for this word in this challenge.  It begins!!

Sunday's word...

1.       To make greater in quantity or dimensions;  to extend in limits breadth or size;  to expand in bulk.  Every man desires to enlarge his possessions; the prince, his dominions;  and the landlord , his farm.  The body is enlarged by nutition, and a good man rejoices to enlarge the sphere of his  benevolence.
2.       To dilate; to expand; as with joy or love.
3.       To expand; to make more comprehensive.  Science enlarges the mind.
4.       To increase in appearance; to magnify to the eye; as by a glass.
5.       To set at liberty;  to release from confinement or pressure.
6.       To extend in a discourse; to diffuse in eloquence.
7.       To augment; to increase; to make large or larger, in a general sense; a word of general application.
To enlarge the heart, may signify to open and expand in good will; to  make free, liberal and charitable.
v.i.
1.       To grow large or larger; to expand; to dilate; to expand.  A plant enlarges by growth; an estate enlarges by good management; a volume of air enlarges by rarefaction.
2.       To be diffuse in speaking or writing; to expatiate.  I might enlarge on this topic.
To exaggerate.

This word makes me laugh for a minute because I am so desiring to diminish my appearance...you know lose weight...about 90 pounds of it!  So enlarging is, like, the LAST thing on my mind...
However, there are areas of my life that can use enlarging.  Understanding being the first and foremost.   Skills would be another.
I spend a LOT of time in books and listening to cds and videos on improving myself, my understanding on a subject; my skills in pottery, teaching, being a homemaker, a becoming a better wife, etc.
So, now that I am done laughing, I am ready to continue enlarging the stuff that really matters to me.

3.       To improve, refine or dignify; to raise from or above low conceptions;  as, to elevate the mind.

5.       To elate with pride.
6.       To excite;  to cheer;  to animate;  as , to elevate the spirits.
7.       To take from; to detract; to lessen by detraction. (not used)
8.       To raise from any tone to one more acute;  as, to elevate the voice.
9.       To augment or swell;  to make louder, as sound.
a.
Elevated; raised aloft.

Ah...this word is so wonderful.  I am so grateful for all of the definitions and how important each aspect of the word is in getting through this life.
I accepted this 90 challenge for the express purpose of elevating myself from one level of existence to a better one.  I hope that I keep steady in this pursuit because any...ANY...degree of improvement is a victory.
I have so many areas of my life to improve.  Relationships are key to me right now.
It is very important to me that I become FRIENDS with Jesus Christ.  And it is important to me that I become a better friend with my husband.
My husband is a very wonderful man.  He is also on this CEO journey.  He really has a handle on certain aspects of the program...aspects that I just struggle with.  It amazes me how he has grabbed on to them and made them a part of him.  It elevates his soul and he glows.  He smiles so much more often.  It is truly remarkable.
Isn't it interesting how we all have different areas of interest and different gifts to help us get where we are going?  I love it.

Thursday's word...Exchange

Exchange:

2.       To lay aside, quit or resign one thing, state or condition, and take another in the place of it;  as, to exchange a crown for a cowl;  to exchange a throne for a cell or a hermitage; to exchange a life of ease for a life of toil.
3.       To give and receive reciprocally;  to give and receive in compensation the same thing.
4.       To give and receive the like thing;  as, to exchange thoughts;  to exchange work;  to exchange blows;  to exchange prisoners.
It has with before the person receiving the thing given, and for before the equivalent.  Will you exchange horses with me?  Will you exchange your horse for mine?
n.
1.       To commerce, the act of giving one thing or commodity for another;  barter;  traffic by permutation, in which the thing received is supposed to be equivalent to the thing given.
2.       The act of giving up or resigning one thing or state for another, without contract.
3.       The act of giving and receiving reciprocally’ as an exchange of thoughts; an exchange of civilities.
4.       The contract by which one commodity is transferred to another for  an equivalent commodity.
5.       The thing given in return for something received; or the thing received in return for what is given.
6.       The form of exchanging one debt or credit for another;  or the receiving or paying of money in one place, for an equal sum in another, by order, draft or bill of exchange….   Bills of exchange, drawn on persons in a foreign country, are called foreign bills of exchange; the like bills, drawn on persons in different parts or cities of the same country, are called inland bills of exchange.     A bill of exchange is a mercantile contract in which four persons are primarily concerned.
7.       In mercantile language, a bill drawn for money is called exchange, instead of a bill of exchange.
8.       The course of exchange, is the current price between two places, which is above or below par, or at par.  Exchange is at par, when a bill in New York for the payment of one hundred pounds sterling in London, can be purchased for one hundred pounds.  If it can be purchased for less, exchange is under par.  If the purchaser is obliged to give more, exchange is above par.
9.       In law, a mutual grant of equal interests, the one in consideration of the other. Estates exchanged must be equal  in quantity, as fee simple for fee simple.

10.   The place where the merchants, brokers, and bankers of a city meet to transact business, at certain hours; often contracted into change.

Well, THIS word means a LOT to me.  It is the perfect word for understanding repentance.
I know that repentance is exchanging one way of doing things for a better way of doing things...purging even the desire to do things the old way and replacing it, or exchanging it, for a better and more appropriate desire and way.
On another level...don't you just love exchanging heartfelt compliments?  I love the energy that happens there.  The way both parties' hearts swell with warm and good feelings...then there is a little discomfort because you don't quit feel worthy of the compliment but want to BE worthy of the compliment...then this little desire grows in there to really BECOME worth of the compliment.  Then more compliments are exchanged and people are lifted up a little more.  And soon everyone involved is so much happier and feeling pretty grateful.
I love those times...seeing someone walk away from me with a lighter step and a little smile on his or her face...with a little more confidence.  It is very wonderful.
Exchange...I want my exchanges to be complimentary...true compliments...for those around me.  There is so much good in life, and so much good in each person who comes into my life.  I like looking for it, finding it, and saying something nice about it...in exchange for the feeling of warmth in my heart, and the gratitude.
