v.t.
1. To offer or
present to view; to present for
inspection; to show; as, to exhibit paintings or other specimens
of art; to exhibit papers or documents
in court.
2. To show; to display;
to manifest publicly; s, to
exhibit a noble example of bravery or generosity.
To
present; to offer publicly or
officially; as, to exhibit a charge of
high treason.Okay...
When I look at this word I think of the zoo, museums, aquariums...places where things are on display. Places where the public goes to watch creatures of all sorts behave as naturally as the environment will allow.
"Where the public goes to watch..." That is what I think of when I see this word in connection with the goal of this challenge.
My behavior is ALWAYS on display...so now I get to think about what behavior I exhibit on a moment by moment basis...let alone a day to day basis.
I think I should be hiding in shame. Oh, I have my moments where I can consider myself a bit more than a tarnished example of good behavior. I like to think that I am kind, caring, relatively articulate when the situation calls for it...but I can say that in general I would NOT like to be caught on surveillance video where I would have to watch MYSELF.
SO, I am to a point where I want to be much more careful with my actions, tone of voice, body language, the whole 9 yards.
I don't think "acting" is the right word for the awareness. I think it more like choosing more carefully before I act or speak.
You see, my goal is to be an effective advocate for Christ. I want to do things His way. My way is mostly flawed. I would exhibit much better behavior.
So, thanks for this word in this challenge. It begins!!
Sunday's word...
1. To make greater
in quantity or dimensions; to extend in
limits breadth or size; to expand in
bulk. Every man desires to enlarge his
possessions; the prince, his dominions;
and the landlord , his farm. The
body is enlarged by nutition, and a good man rejoices to enlarge the sphere of
his benevolence.
2. To dilate; to
expand; as with joy or love.
3. To expand; to
make more comprehensive. Science
enlarges the mind.
4. To increase in
appearance; to magnify to the eye; as by a glass.
5. To set at
liberty; to release from confinement or
pressure.
6. To extend in a
discourse; to diffuse in eloquence.
7. To augment; to

To enlarge the heart, may signify to open and expand in good will; to make free, liberal and charitable.
v.i.
1. To grow large or
larger; to expand; to dilate; to expand.
A plant enlarges by growth; an estate enlarges by good management; a
volume of air enlarges by rarefaction.
2. To be diffuse in
speaking or writing; to expatiate. I
might enlarge on this topic.
To
exaggerate. This word makes me laugh for a minute because I am so desiring to diminish my appearance...you know lose weight...about 90 pounds of it! So enlarging is, like, the LAST thing on my mind...
However, there are areas of my life that can use enlarging. Understanding being the first and foremost. Skills would be another.
I spend a LOT of time in books and listening to cds and videos on improving myself, my understanding on a subject; my skills in pottery, teaching, being a homemaker, a becoming a better wife, etc.
So, now that I am done laughing, I am ready to continue enlarging the stuff that really matters to me.
Here's to Growing (on the inside) and Glowing!!!
Onward and Upward!
