More than a week behind - feeling a bit overwhelmed - but Onward and Upward! Right?

Catching up all the way from the 21st of April.  Daunting when you think that today is the 29th.  I feel like Madmartigan in Willow...you know...when he was in Tir Asleen and he has just dealt with a troll and now he has to deal with the two headed dragon.  Do you remember his body language?  How he heaved a big sigh and then jumped out onto one of the dragon's heads.  Well, I think I know how he feels.  When you leave a task so long it becomes a double headed dragon and it just has to be dealt with.

To throw against.
1.       To oppose;  to present in opposition.
2.       To present or offer in opposition, as a charge criminal, or as a reason adverse to something supposed to be erroneous or wrong;  with to or against
v.i.
·         To oppose in words or arguments;  to offer reasons against.  The council objected to the admission of the plaintiff’s witnesses.
A.
Opposed;  presented in opposition.

I am not really sure how to use this word in an Upward way.  As I ponder I am thinking that is was chosen for this program because the creator is going through such a struggle in the court system the last couple of years.  It is afterall her program.
How can I apply it in my life?  Well, I chose to object to the promptings of the adversary on a daily, sometimes moment by moment, basis.  I have no desire whatsoever to be counted in the least way in his ranks.
My stand is with Jesus Christ.  I just won't knowingly agree with the adversary.  As the adversary is my, and Jesus Christ's opposition then I stand in a constant state of objection to him.

What?  I am lost here.  I wonder what another dictionary has to say about this word.

    the objective case.

Okay...here is something that I can identify with.  "A thing aimed at or sought;  a goal."

I think it is really important to set and achieve goals.  I feel it is imperative to have a plan.  A long term and a daily plan.  Direction is important.  Setting a course to reach a long term goal is not only important but very satisfying and gratifying.
I am using this program as a part of a plan to reach a specific goal.  I know that personal growth is important.  I believe this program is helping me do something that has always been really hard for me to do.  Looking inward can be pretty painful but as I use this program I am finding that if I take it in small increments it is far less painful than I thought it would be.  And I can make adjustments.  They don't even have to start out as big adjustments.  Small increments made regularly can create huge results...still always moving forward in a positive direction.  Sure, there may be a little discomfort but I am finding that the pain I was worried about has not really presented itself.

The word for Friday 23 April 2014 was OTHERS
Residue
1.       Not the same;  different;  not this or these.
2.       Not this, but the contrary; as, on this side of the river stands Troy, on the other side stands Albany.
3.       Noting something besides.  To the knowledge of the Latin and Greek, join as much other learning as you can.
4.       Correlative to each, and applicable to any number of individuals.

6.       The next.
The third part.

The first thing that comes to my mind is -- "Other sheep have I which are not of this fold."
There are many peoples out there searching for the Light and the truth.  And there are many out there that have found truth and Light.  I am grateful for all that they share with me in order to help me along my journey.
It is important for me to remember that I am not the only person who has ever experienced sadness, frustration, pain, weakness, weariness, joy, love, kindness, satisfaction, etc., etc.  There are others.  There are those who I can look to and glean much understanding and knowledge without having to experience it first hand.

The word for Saturday 24 April 2014 was OUTCOME

This is a great word...especially for right now.  This word helps me to keep going to the end.
From Merrriam-Webster dictionary:
: something that happens as a result of an activity or process.
From Dictionary.com
1.       a final product or end result; consequence; issue.

2.       a conclusion reached through a process of logical thinking.

Noah's 1828 dictionary doesn't have this word.  So I had to look elsewhere.  But I can identify with these definitions.
Obviously I would like the outcome of this program to be that I am a perfected and purified person ready for translation and entry into the kingdom of God.  Well, that IS what I want ultimately.  The program could help me along the road to that end.
I think that because I am trying to reach that goal and using all the tools I can find to help me along the way that this is a worthy goal.  I think that there are some other principles to apply and much work to do but I think I can do it.
Whatever the outcome, at the end of this challenge I know that I will be a better person for it.  And I am satisfied with that for the moment.

The word for 25 April 20014 was OCTAGON

Eight and Angle

In fortification, a place with eight bastions.

I know that I am working on fortifying myself against the adversary but I haven't built a fort, or castle, or walled city...physically.  I am just not sure how this applies to the spiritual growth that I am working for.

This word resonates with me.  It suggests a couple of different things that matter to me.

  1. The need to look at my resources and organize them in a useful and orderly way.  So that I can reach out and use them...know where they are and what they are good for.
  2. The need to include others in my process.  Sharing one anothers' experiences and skills to achieve goals that are similar.  Like minded people who understand and encourage.
Organizing has never been my strong suit.  But with God nothing is impossible.  I have enlisted His assistance.  I hope I have it in me to follow ALL of His instructions.

I think that I identify most with the part that says "adjust"...  it suggest putting myself in order.  Rearranging myself to get things right.

Working on it!!!  Happily, steadily, cheerfully working on it.

The word for 28 April 2014 was OASIS

Without even looking at the definition I know that I have an oasis...it is the potters' wheel.  I can go there in the midst of all the turmoil that happens in life and find a place of rest and peace.  I am hoping to make a second oasis in meditation...I fall asleep there though.  I suppose that serves a good purpose too but when I meditate I want to be totally awake and aware even though I am calm and peaceful.
     So the definition is:

From Dictionary.com
1.       a small fertile or green area in a desert region, usually having a spring or well.
2.       something serving as a refuge, relief, or pleasant change from what is usual,

See --?  the second definition there is the one that rings out to me.  I identify with it. Profoundly.

2.       Superficial appearance;  exterior; as the outside of a man or of manners.
3.       Person;  external man.
The part or place that lies without or beyond an enclosure.

This is a sad word to me...well, it has been a sad word to me.  But I am finding that I can make it much happier if I think about it.
When I was growing up I felt like I was always on the outside of every group.  I was different.  I had different values than most of the people knew.  Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (more commonly known as Mormons) I was really different as far as the limited understanding of most people.  I didn't think about going out and drinking or trying to get away with smoking behind the school.  I tried not to use rude language but I didn't master that until I was married, truthfully, I still struggle with that one sometimes.
Being on the outside of a group can be very lonely.  A person can be there only so long until he or she begins to create his or her own group.  Well, I got married and had a family.  :)  I made a group of my own.  I was really really on the inside of that one.
As I have aged.  (don't you love that word?) I have found that I can be on the inside of any group...and still stand by my convictions and live my religion.  The secret is kindness, cheerfulness, and service.  Who knew?

Here's to Growing and Glowing!!!
Onward and Upward!!
